Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is a modification of a conventional water-steam Rankine cycle, with the main difference to be the use of an organic fluid instead of water-steam. In its simplest layout, an ORC consists of a heat exchanger—serving both as an evaporator and a superheater—an expander, a condenser, and a pump.
